CUK holds 24th UBC at Green Campus Ganderbal | KNO

Ganderbal, March 15 (KNO) : The 24th meeting of the University Building Committee (UBC) of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) was held at Green Campus of the varsity on Thursday, with Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir in chair. Registrar, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Parveen Pandit, Deans of some Schools, members of the UBC, officials representing different State Government departments, representatives from the executing agencies, except NBCC, were present on the occasion. Addressing the participants, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir as per a statement issued to KNO expressed happiness over holding the UBC meeting in the newly established Green Campus of the varsity at Ganderbal. “We have shifted the departments of MBA, Tourism and Travel Management, M.Com, Economics, Political Science, Education and B.Ed to the Green Campus and the classwork has already started after winter vacations,” Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said. He further said the departments of Integrated BSc/MSc Zoology, Integrated BSc/MSc Biotechnology, English and Urdu are functioning from the Science block at Ganderbal while as the department of Information Technology, M.PEd, and ITSS section are operating from the PEB-II at the designated campus of the university in Tulmulla. He said the structures at Green campus, erstwhile Old Physical Education College were renovated and refurbished to accommodate the students and additional 14 classrooms were constructed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for providing facilities to the departments. Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said, the executing agency has failed to complete the work on the Pre Engineered Building-I within the stipulated time and meet the targets vis-a-vis completion of the project, which resulted in inordinate delay in shifting the teaching departments to the Tulmulla campus, adding the construction of permanent structures also took a hit after serious questions were raised by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, regarding the quality of the land. “The Ministry appointed Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) whose member after thorough soil testing approved the construction of G+1 structures.” The members discussed several issues pertaining to constructions and took important decisions regarding the same. Registrar, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka took up the meeting agenda and conducted the proceedings.(KNO)
